The working-age population accounted for 63 % of the population, and children aged 14 and under for 15.1 %.
The greatest proportion of children and adolescents was registered in Riga region – 15.7 %. Migration data show that the population of Pieriga (the area immediately around the capital, essentially its commuter belt) keeps growing, and that remigrants (Latvians returning from abroad) made up 72.9 % of all migrants.
