71 MPs voted in favour of Palkova's confirmation, 15 voted against, and two abstained.
Palkova had been nominated for the post of Ombudsman by the coalition parties. There were no other candidates for the post.
Palkova was also supported by the non-partisan MPs Skaidrīte Ābrama, Oļegs Burovs, Andrejs Ceļapīters and Igors Rajevs, as well as by two opposition parties, the United List and the National Alliance.
