The Wife of the Founder of AliExpress Bought the Embassy Building in London

The wife of billionaire and founder of the Chinese corporation Alibaba (the company that owns AliExpress) Jack Ma has purchased a mansion in London. The building previously belonged to the Italian embassy, according to the Financial Times. According to the publication, Kathy In Zhang became the owner of a townhouse in the aristocratic Belgravia district last year. The deal cost the billionaire's family £19.5 million. The estate was built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Since 1923, the residence housed the Italian embassy, then the office of the Italian military attaché, but fifteen years ago the building was converted into a private home. It features six bedrooms, a home theater, and a garden in the courtyard. According to statistics from the real estate company LonRes, this deal ranked 34th in the list of the most expensive transactions of 2024 in London. In addition to the London mansion, last year Jack Ma purchased three commercial properties in Singapore. Their total cost was $34.5 million. Outside of China, the billionaire owns an estate at the highest point in Hong Kong, vineyards in France, and a 28,000-acre plot in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. It was previously reported that Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg bought one of the most expensive homes in Washington. The property cost $23 million.
