The international "mountain and snowflake" marking indicates that the tyre has passed certain tests and is recognised as suitable for driving in snow, ice and icy conditions, CSDD explained.
"Drivers should note that during the upcoming winter period, if their vehicle is fitted with tyres bearing only the M+S symbol, without the 'mountain and snowflake' marking, they will not be considered as winter tyres. The use of such tyres is not allowed in winter," said CSDD.
