Dorothea Wierer on Plans After Career Ends: I Want to Enjoy Family, Become a Mom

"There will be a calmer life, perceived as it is. And I want to enjoy family, become a mom. Biathlon requires colossal efforts: almost 1000 hours of training a year — gym, roller skiing, shooting, skiing, as well as cycling and trekking. When I started, I never thought I would be able to participate in the Olympic Games at almost 36 years old. But now I understand that physically and mentally I am still fine and I am capable of competing at the highest level," Wierer told Eurosport Italy. 35-year-old Wierer plans to end her professional career after the 2026 Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
