Tom Hanks to Play Abraham Lincoln in 'Lincoln in the Bardo'

Lincoln entered history by abolishing slavery and leading the United States during the Civil War. Filming will take place in London. Saunders is adapting his novel for the big screen himself, with Oscar-nominated Duke Johnson (Anomalisa) serving as director and producer. The film will use a unique combination of stop-motion animation and live action to depict one of the most intimate moments in Lincoln's life, focusing on his relationship with his recently deceased 11-year-old son. The film explores themes of love, empathy, and the human capacity to cope with grief through the lens of an ensemble of characters—both living and dead, historical and fictional.
