Let us remind you that former head of the State Chancellery Janis Citskovskis mentioned that almost two years ago, Prime Minister Evika Silina, while on a visit to the USA and then from the USA to Latvia, used the VIP zone (along with an advisor and a bodyguard) at the transfer airport in Amsterdam, which cost the state more than 4,000 euros. Former President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers stated in an interview with TV-24 what the VIP zone or VIP lounge is like. "There is nothing there! Just coffee, tea, and cookies. I remember when I had to wait for the next flight for 2-3-4 hours and I was already hungry, I had to leave the VIP zone and go to the business lounge to grab a bite. The VIP zone is used by protected officials for security reasons, but mainly to save time. All procedures there - security checks, passport control - are conducted very quickly, and transportation to the car is organized. It is clear that those accompanying the prime minister or president also use the VIP zone; otherwise, it all loses meaning - where would they look for the prime minister or president later?!" - noted Valdis Zatlers.
