Situations where the numbers on a smartphone screen and on the stop sign do not match create serious inconveniences, especially on weekends when the intervals between transport increase or the transport for that route runs infrequently. A reader of the publication "MK Latvia" shared a story about how an attempt to trust the online schedule resulted in a forty-minute wait at the stop in Zolitūde. ## "The bus left 7 minutes ago" The story of the Riga resident is typical for those who use public transport irregularly. After getting a shift on a day off, the woman decided to plan her route from Zolitūde to the center on bus No. 53 in advance. "I didn’t know the schedule and decided to check online. With a calm mind, I arrived at the stop, only to find out that the bus had left seven minutes ago! The schedule at the stop was completely different. On Sundays, transport runs infrequently, and I had to wait for the next bus for 40 minutes," the passenger laments. ## Rīgas satiksme's response: "bookmarks" and third-party websites are to blame The situation was commented on for "MK Latvia" by Rīgas satiksme representative Baiba Bartashevicha-Feldmane. According to her, checking the specific case with bus No. 53 revealed no internal systemic errors. The information on the company’s website fully matches what is posted at the stops. In the representative's opinion, problems often arise when passengers use third-party resources or save old links that display incorrect data — from a year or even five years ago. "We have noticed that passengers often attach screenshots from websites like 1188.lv or la.lv to their complaints. It’s important to pay attention to which resource you are using," says the Rīgas satiksme representative. In the many years of Rīgas satiksme's operation, there have only been a couple of cases where the schedule on the official website actually contained errors. ## How not to miss your bus? To avoid waiting unnecessarily at the stop, the carrier recommends following these simple rules: - The official public transport schedule for Riga should only be sought on the website rigassatiksme.lv. - Pay attention to the day of the week and holiday schedules — the times for transport to start running on these days differ significantly. - If you see a clear discrepancy, be sure to call Rīgas satiksme's information phone at 20361862 and report the error. Calls on weekdays are accepted from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM, and on weekends from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
