Российские баллистические ракеты Сармат

Russia plans to put the new intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat" capable of carrying a nuclear warhead on combat duty later this year. This was reported to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin by the commander of the strategic missile forces Sergey Karakaev. Putin himself, in a televised address, called the "Sarmat" the most powerful missile in the world. According to him, the power of the "Sarmat" warhead exceeds that of any Western equivalent by more than four times, and its range allegedly exceeds 35,000 km. For comparison, the length of the equator is just over 40,000 km. Western security experts believe that Putin exaggerates the capabilities of some of Russia's new generation nuclear weapons. However, Deutsche Welle writes that according to open estimates, the range of the "Sarmat" could reach approximately 18,000 kilometers, allowing it to hit targets on other continents. RS-28 "Sarmat" is a Russian strategic missile system of the fifth generation with a heavy multi-stage liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missile. The "Sarmat" is intended to replace the Soviet R-36M2 "Voivoda" missiles that are in service with the Strategic Missile Forces. The "Voivoda" and its modifications were put into service between 1975 and 1988.
