Pride participants noted that Latvian society is becoming more accepting of same-sex couples and diverse sexualities, yet many still choose to hide their homosexuality. The 20th Rīga Pride parade took place peacefully, though it was, as usual, accompanied by several protesters who had gathered at the Esplanade and along the street.
