**What is remembered in the Church on June 25, 2026** Peter was born in Greece at the end of the 7th century. For a long time, he served as a voivode in the imperial troops in Constantinople. And during the war in 667, he was captured by the Syrians. He was imprisoned in a fortress near the Euphrates River. He languished in the dungeon for a long time and had much time for reflection, the main thing that troubled him was for what sins he ended up in prison. And then he remembered that he had decided to go to a monastery but later changed his mind. He began to observe fasting in the dungeon, pray, and ask Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker to help him. He started dreaming of saints, and after the third such dream, his shackles miraculously vanished, and the doors of the dungeon opened by themselves. He emerged into freedom and went straight to Rome with a firm decision to become a monk. And here he was helped by a holy intercessor. In a dream, Saint Nicholas appeared to the Pope and commanded him to personally tonsure Peter into a monk. He followed the instruction and then allowed Peter to determine for himself where he would live as a monk. Moreover, the Mother of God appeared and commanded him to go to Mount Athos. There he spent 53 years in complete solitude, praying and battling demons. His relics were kept in the monastery of Saint Clement. **The Meaning of the Holiday** This saint shows us that we should listen to the Lord's guidance and follow it. **What can be done on June 25, 2026** — It is customary to go fishing. — One should prepare dishes from fish, especially fish soup. — The last cabbage seedlings and the last cucumber seeds are planted this year. — It is customary to dress in bright dresses and shirts. **What cannot be done on June 25, 2026** — No soups may be eaten except for fish soups. — Do not go to bed before midnight. — Do not wear dark colors. — It is not advisable to buy or bring animals into the house. — Mowing grass is prohibited.
