As reported by the advisor to the minister, Toms Sadovskis, on Thursday in Tallinn, Braže met with the Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, to discuss current issues on the bilateral, regional, and international agenda. "Latvia and Estonia are united - we will continue to restrict the so-called shadow fleet of Russia, strengthen sanctions, and respond jointly to hybrid threats. Our security is based on decisive and coordinated actions," the minister summarized after the meeting with Tsahkna. The main topic of the talks was the security issues of the Baltic Sea region and the NATO summit, which will take place on July 7 and 8 in Ankara, Turkey. The ministers agreed that it is important to continue working together to ensure that the strengthening of the eastern border remains a priority on the agenda of NATO and the European Union (EU). The ministers also discussed the need to continue coordination both at the bilateral level and in the formats of the Baltic and Nordic countries (NB8) and other regional formats, forming a unified policy to deter Russia. The further tightening of EU sanctions was also discussed. The ministers also talked about Latvia's work in the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member - Latvia aims to maintain support for Ukraine and condemnation of Russian aggression among the organization's priorities. The ministers also discussed current issues in transatlantic relations and further steps to strengthen them. This year, Estonia is the coordinating country in the NB8 format, as well as the presiding country in the Baltic Council of Ministers and the Baltic Assembly.
