Yesterday evening and today turned out to be rich... in candidates - four lists of parties and associations were submitted for participation in the 15th Saeima elections. Another list is on the way - "For the Development of Latvia." But let's go through everything in order. Yesterday afternoon, the "Gobzem's List" was registered. However, you won't find Gobzems himself on the list, as the former Saeima deputy Aldis Gobzems has lived in Spain for the last few years and decided... to change his name and surname. Now he is called - Arigo Toro! However, apart from him, no other well-known public figures could be found in this party. Also yesterday, the Central Election Commission registered a list from a new political force - "We Change the Rules." It is noteworthy that, alongside the list leader Alvis Hermanis, his older brother Janis Hermanis is also vying for a seat in the Saeima. This party is also running a number of former Saeima deputies from the deceased KPV.LV party, as well as two veterans of Latvian politics - Saeima deputy Alexander Kiršteins, for whom this party will be the 8th or 9th in his rich political career, and Anta Rugate - a former news anchor who was a deputy in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th convocations! Today, lists from the Union of Greens and Farmers and the party "Sovereign Power" (Suverēnā vara) were submitted to the Central Election Commission. From the Union of Greens and Farmers, alongside current deputies and ministers, three former ministers are also running - former Minister of Health Peteris Apinis, former Minister of the Interior Sandis Girgens, and former Minister for Social Integration Oskars Kasten. Also on this list is the wife of Aivars Lembergs, Kristine Lembergs. In the "Sovereign Power" list, its leaders - Julia and Vyacheslav Stepanenko, as well as their colleagues from the Riga City Council - Inna Dyeri, Igor Solomatin, Arturs Klebahs, Rudolf Bremanis, Lyubov Shvetsova, and Julia Sokhina. Former Riga Vice Mayor Vadim Barannik is also running for the Saeima, with the head of a dental clinic, Sergey Volkov, in the top ten for the Riga electoral district. Tomorrow is the last day for submitting candidate lists.
