Observing brown bears has become one of the most unusual tourist attractions in Estonia. In the Alutaguse region, bear watching tours attract not only locals but also travelers from other European countries. Traveler Andris Rubins shared his impressions after such a trip. > "Great respect to the Estonians! In our group, there were Dutch and French people, and everyone acknowledged that it was one of the most impressive adventures during our trip to the Baltic states," he wrote on the social network X. In the published video, several brown bears can be seen coming out of the forest one after another and calmly walking across a sunny glade. According to Rubins, his group was lucky to see six animals at once. At the same time, the organizers warn that such excursions take place in the natural habitat of wild animals, so a bear encounter cannot be guaranteed. This unpredictability, according to many tourists, makes the trip especially interesting. The tours take place from specially equipped hides that allow for safe observation of the animals without disturbing them or interfering with their natural behavior. The Alutaguse region is considered one of the best places in Estonia for observing brown bears. Thanks to the combination of forested areas and developed tourist infrastructure, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers from different countries come here every year. The story of bear tours shows that even large predators can become not only a topic of discussion but also an important part of ecotourism if safe conditions are created for both animals and visitors. The Estonian experience demonstrates that wildlife can be not only a reason for caution but also an attractive tourist resource. Visu cieņu igauņiem, kas lāču vērošanu pārvērtuši pieprasītā tūrisma produktā. Ar mums kopā grupā bija holandieši un franči. Visi atzina, ka šī bijusi viena no spilgtākajām pieredzēm Baltijas valstu apceļošanā. Iesaku pamēģināt - https://t.co/g68kUsVEMW pic.twitter.com/GpxevtKBqv— Andris Rubīns (@Rubins) June 26, 2026
