As noted by BNS, this is at least the fourth batch of such missiles supplied to the Lithuanian army since August 2025. To date, the army has received Spike LR2 missiles worth at least 11.5 million euros, and further purchases are planned. "We will additionally procure even more Spike LR2 missiles — the Lithuanian army must be as prepared and equipped with modern weaponry as possible," said Minister of Defense Robertas Kaunas in the statement. According to him, the army continues to strengthen, and investments in ammunition stocks are aimed at deterring Russia and ensuring peace in the country. Spike LR2 is an anti-tank missile that provides rapid response and high firepower, designed to destroy tanks, armored vehicles, engineering structures, and other important targets. In the Lithuanian Armed Forces, these missiles are integrated into Vilkas infantry fighting vehicles, which gives them increased firepower and the ability to operate at greater distances. According to the ministry, the defense budget for 2026 allocates 2 billion euros for the procurement of weapons and military equipment. Overall, this year Lithuania plans defense funding of 5.38% of its gross domestic product.
