Latvian TV approached the chairman of the Latvian Union of Theatre Workers, Ojars Rubenis, to comment on the order of the Minister of Culture, Nauris Puntulis, which effectively prohibits the Russian Theatre named after Mikhail Chekhov from communicating with the audience in Russian - advertising performances, putting up posters, and communicating among actors... The chairman of the Latvian Union of Theatre Workers, Ojars Rubenis, is surprised by the way the minister is addressing this issue: "If one morning we suddenly receive a message that this is how it will be from now on, without discussing it with anyone, and you must accept it because I am powerful - this is how we are doing it now - then it is quite clear, reading this message, which I do not fully understand and which raises many questions for me... It is completely clear that a state-owned capital society, which is subordinate to the authorities, writes back its objections because no one is really talking to it (to the theatre - ed.), no one is explaining, no one is talking to the team. For me, this is somewhat comparable to public media, where there was a question of brands."
