More than 200,000 fake condoms from China have been discovered in Europe. The counterfeit products were distributed under the name and logo of a well-known brand, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) found out. According to the agency, the fake items did not undergo mandatory testing and did not meet European standards for medical products. This includes tests for strength, material stability, and absence of contamination. OLAF warned that using such products could not only lead to unwanted pregnancies but also increase the risk of spreading sexually transmitted infections. Batches of counterfeits were discovered and seized during joint operations by the customs authorities of Romania, Serbia, and Spain. To conceal the true contents of the shipments, suppliers declared them as toys. During the investigation, OLAF collaborated with Chinese authorities, which allowed them to identify exporters and halt further supplies.
