Зарядка электромобиля

The European Union intends to present a comprehensive plan to reduce dependence on fossil fuels through accelerated electrification of the economy. According to Reuters, citing a draft document from the European Commission, Brussels is preparing new political initiatives and funding mechanisms aimed at speeding up the transition to electricity use across various sectors. The initiative is a response to the energy consequences of the conflict surrounding Iran, which has led to a sharp rise in oil and gas prices. According to the EU's estimates, which is dependent on energy imports, additional energy resource costs have increased by nearly €50 billion since the end of February. The strategy draft is set to be presented on July 17. The document includes the introduction of a minimum target share of electricity in the overall energy consumption of the EU by 2040. The specific value has not yet been determined as the draft continues to be refined. The plan calls for the accelerated replacement of gasoline and diesel vehicles with electric cars, broader adoption of heat pumps instead of gas boilers in residential buildings, and modernization of industrial enterprises to switch to equipment powered by electricity. At the same time, the European Commission intends to expand financial support for this transition. Although electric vehicles, heat pumps, and other electric technologies can reduce operating costs in the long term, the high purchase price remains a significant barrier for many families and companies. Brussels hopes that accelerated electrification will not only strengthen the energy security of the European Union but also bring closer the achievement of climate goals. Reducing dependence on imported oil and gas should make the European economy less vulnerable to geopolitical crises and sharp fluctuations in energy prices.
