The construction of communication towers will be handled by Citrus Solutions LLC, while the construction of sites for the placement of material and technical resources will be carried out in two phases by contractors LAU Infra Grupa JSC and Inbuv LLC. The work on creating anti-tank ditches and placing material and technical resources is divided into six phases, with two to be carried out by LAU Infra Grupa, two by VIA LLC, and two by CBS Igate LLC. In the coming weeks, construction work will begin on the eastern border of Latvia, which includes the creation of anti-tank ditches, the necessary infrastructure for placing material and technical resources, and communication towers. As part of the work on the eastern border, it is planned to create anti-tank ditches approximately 27 km long, build nine sites for placing material and technical resources, and two communication towers in the administrative territories of Alūksne, Balvi, Ludza, Krāslava, and Augšdaugava municipalities. The construction of infrastructure is planned to be carried out in phases until the autumn of 2027. Defense Minister Raivis Melniks emphasizes that the creation of the Baltic defense line is an important step in enhancing the security of Latvia and the entire eastern NATO border. The construction of counter-mobility infrastructure and communication systems will enhance the capabilities of the National Armed Forces to deter and neutralize any potential threats. The costs for the implementation of the first phase will amount to €12.98 million. A tripartite cooperation agreement has been signed with the Ministry of Defense and the State Center for Military Facilities and Procurement to finance the construction work.
