The construction consortium "BeReRix" has completed the main works on the facade construction and glazing of the roof of the southern part of the new station building, as well as the installation of decorative and functional elements. Thus, the new station building has acquired the intended architectural appearance, which could previously only be seen in the project visualizations. The total area of glazing for the new building is 1,500 square meters. The facade is equipped with glass structures and design elements, as well as integrated functional solutions, including mounts for fire safety systems and building maintenance. The glass structures of the facade and roof were produced in Italy, where they underwent load and quality testing. The tests confirmed the structures' resistance to air, water, and mechanical impacts, ensuring their durability and suitability for Latvia's climatic conditions, including harsh winters. In June of this year, the main construction works were also completed on three new passenger platforms - approaches were built and elevators installed at both ends of the platforms, and modern functional canopies for passengers were constructed, with architecture that complements the station building. The Executive Director of "BeReRix", Guntis Aboltins-Abolins, emphasized that construction work in the southern part of the new Riga Central Station is progressing rapidly and according to the established schedule. "The completion of the facade and platform construction allows for a full appreciation of the architectural appearance and quality of the building. At the same time, we continue work on the interior spaces and landscaping of the surrounding area to ensure a modern, safe, and convenient infrastructure for passengers," he said. As reported, construction work in the southern part of the new Riga Central Station is being carried out in accordance with the contract signed by EDzL with the Central Finance and Contracts Agency. The total cost of the contract is planned to be 138.67 million euros, including funding from the Recovery Fund amounting to 114.628 million euros and funding from the state budget of 24.072 million euros. The contract signed in November 2025 stipulates that during the implementation of the project, the main works - construction of the roof and facade, canopies on the platforms, finishing works, and construction of infrastructure for passengers, as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works - will be completed by August 31 of this year.
