Охранники ищут работу

According to the Prison Administration (PA), approximately 150 employees who will no longer have jobs in the Daugavpils prisons after the changes will be offered the opportunity to continue their service or work in other correctional facilities - the Jekabpils Prison, the Riga Central Prison, the Ilguciems Prison, the Olaine Prison, the Valmiera Prison, or the Cesis Juvenile Correctional Facility. The PA explains that the Daugavgriva Prison is legally and organizationally a single structural unit of the PA, whose activities are currently provided in two prisons - the Griva and Daugavpils branches. The Griva branch of the Daugavgriva Prison will cease operations on December 15, while the second branch of the prison in Daugavpils will continue to operate. Officials and employees are employed at the Daugavgriva Prison, not at one of the branches as a separate structural unit; therefore, the PA does not specify how many employees work at the liquidated Griva branch. In total, there are 506 positions in both branches of the prison, but currently, 405 people are actually employed. Positions in the prison are already gradually being reduced as employees leave voluntarily, are transferred to another place of service, or retire due to length of service. After the closure of the Griva Prison, a new staffing list for the Daugavgriva Prison will be approved, which will provide for 240 positions. The situation of each prison employee will be assessed individually, taking into account their position, qualifications, professional experience, length of service, place of residence, family circumstances, and desire to continue service. Before the closure of the Griva branch, 14 employees will be eligible for retirement due to reaching the established age, and three employees will reach retirement age. Prison employees will also be offered vacancies in the new Liepaja Prison and other correctional facilities in Latvia. Currently, 17 officials from the Daugavgriva Prison have been transferred for further service to the Jekabpils Prison, reports the PA.
