Luminor bank economist Peteris Straujinsh commented on the possible dismantling of the rails towards Russia during a discussion on TV24. "A few years ago, the Latvian railway made a lot of money from transporting goods from Russia and Belarus. Now, for well-known reasons, the railway has become so 'quiet'. It is clear that the railway can no longer survive on commercial means; it will have to be subsidized by the state. As for the question of dismantling the rails in the eastern direction, I don't even fully understand this question. After all, this is also part of the internal transport infrastructure! I hope it doesn't come to that," said the economist.
