The American project OTUS has introduced special FPV drones capable of flying inside tornadoes. Thanks to their reinforced design and speeds exceeding 350 km/h, these devices withstand extreme air currents and capture unique footage that was previously impossible to obtain. However, the main goal of these flights is not to create spectacular videos. While passing through the tornado, the drones collect important meteorological data: they measure wind parameters, pressure, and other characteristics that help scientists gain a deeper understanding of the processes involved in tornado formation. Researchers hope that this new technology will improve the accuracy of forecasts and provide earlier warnings to the public about the approach of dangerous storms. If the project proves effective, the drones could become a new tool for meteorologists, and flights into the eye of the tornado could not only be an impressive spectacle but also a means of saving human lives.
