Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to "freeze" the war in Ukraine during negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday, July 25, in Omsk. Tokayev spoke during a meeting with Putin at the Forum of Interregional Cooperation of the two countries, which took place on July 24-25. The President of Kazakhstan stated that "nobody knows how to get out of the situation now, because there are positions of the parties." At the same time, he suggested that "maybe this conflict should already be frozen and we should return to the Istanbul formula 2.0, as significant results were achieved there." According to Tokayev, he is receiving "many signals" from Europe and the USA regarding the war in Ukraine, which he had previously informed Putin about. The President of Kazakhstan added that his country refuses to be a mediator in achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine. Tokayev: The nature of this conflict is not entirely clear to many Tokayev emphasized that the war in Ukraine is a "state conflict," and "this is not about some civil war." "We have always respected the Ukrainian people, their culture, and language, and we believe that the nature of this conflict is not entirely clear to many, including us," noted the President of Kazakhstan. He added that "all of this needs to be stopped," as the war in Ukraine is "beneficial and pleasing" to the opponents of both Moscow and Kyiv.
