According to the Financial Times, Ukrainian authorities believe that the attacks, which have noticeably intensified in recent weeks, are aimed at disrupting normal life in frontline areas. Officials think the strikes may also be a response to Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil and gas facilities. In particular, a member of the Kharkiv Regional Council, Oleksandr Skoryk, reported that Russia has destroyed more than 200 gas stations, at least 80 of which are in the Kharkiv region. He also claims that the last gas station on an important route towards Kyiv was attacked; however, other officials have denied this information. Attacks on Ukrainian fuel infrastructure are occurring against the backdrop of a severe fuel crisis in Russia itself, caused by systematic strikes from Ukrainian drones on Russian oil refineries, reports The Moscow Times.
