Italy was the first to demand the suspension of the Schengen Agreement, which will allow for strict control at the internal borders of the EU, primarily at the Spanish-Italian border. The situation was commented on in social media by independent Saeima deputy Alexander Kiršteins: "Latvia will sooner or later also have to exit the Schengen Agreement and introduce strict border control! Oh, I almost forgot, first we need to get rid of the traitors in government!"
