At the beginning of 2026, municipalities near the capital had the highest proportions of children – Mārupe 29.2 %, Ādaži 24.8 %, and Ķekava 24.4 %. However, in the capital itself it stood at just 17.0 %. Latgale region had the lowest share of children – 15.5 %, with Krāslava municipality having 12.1 %, Augšdaugava municipality 13.1 %, and Ludza municipality 13.9 %.
