Сергей Михалок

The musician has been found guilty on two counts of the Criminal Code and sentenced to four years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime correctional colony. The court proceedings took place in the absence of the defendant, who left the territory of Belarus in 2020. **Essence of the Charges** The criminal case against Mikhalko was initiated by the Investigative Committee of Belarus back in May of this year. The basis for this was materials published by the artist online. The court established that in 2021–2022, the musician posted videos on his accounts on YouTube and other online platforms containing negative statements about Alexander Lukashenko. According to the investigation and the court, these statements were expressed "in an indecent, including obscene, form of speech expression." Additionally, in March 2022, Mikhalko published content criticizing law enforcement officers and military personnel. The actions of the soloist were classified under a combination of crimes provided for in Articles 130 and 368 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus — "Incitement of Social Hatred and Discord" and "Insulting the President." Previously, some songs by the band "Lyapis Trubetskoy" were also recognized as extremist materials in Belarus.
