## Three Years of Work and Many Unexpected Discoveries The restoration lasted three years and resembled an archaeological excavation in many ways. Specialists gradually removed layers of later finishes that had accumulated over decades to restore the spaces to their appearance after the completion of construction in 1906. During the work, many original details, long hidden from view, were discovered. Beneath modern coverings, decorative plasterwork with floral patterns was preserved, the characteristic wavy ceilings typical of Gaudí were revealed again, and unusual architectural elements were found that testify to the master’s creative approach. Among the most interesting finds are doors made from recycled materials, adapted by Gaudí for the interior, as well as a previously unknown version of a door handle. These details once again confirm how carefully the architect attended to even the smallest elements of decoration. ## Return to Historical Appearance For the restoration of the interiors, restorers used traditional technologies and craft methods. Wooden structures, floor coverings, and individual construction elements from the early 20th century were restored based on preserved drawings. As a result, the third floor has once again closely approached its original appearance. ## Modern Design Without Losing Gaudí's Spirit To ensure that the historical space met modern requirements, renowned Italian designer Paola Navone and the OTTO Studio team were brought in. Their task was to preserve the unique character of the building while making it comfortable for a new format of use. Navone complemented the interiors with handmade items, modern furniture, and expressive textures that do not clash with Gaudí's architecture but organically highlight its features. Thanks to this combination of historical heritage and modern design, each room has acquired its own atmosphere, allowing visitors to view the work of the great Catalan architect in a new light and feel what a true home created by Gaudí over a century ago could have been like.
