According to OpenAI, separate limitations will still apply to files, images, voice messages, and image generation. The update also affects Plus and Pro subscription users. They will gain access to the improved GPT-5.6 Sol model, which is better suited for quick tasks, online information searches, advice, planning, writing, and decision-making. The company noted that the new model will provide 'more compact and reliable responses.' A separate version of GPT-5.6 Sol will be used for ChatGPT, distinct from the one applied in Codex and Work services. ChatGPT Plus and Pro users will also have the ability to customize the time the chatbot spends contemplating its response. This feature will be accessible through a special slider. An internal assessment by OpenAI showed that compared to GPT-5.5 Instant, factual errors in responses occurred 62% less frequently with GPT-5.6 Luna and 68% less frequently with GPT-5.6 Sol. The updated GPT-5.6 Sol version is available to Plus and Pro users starting today, while changes for Free and Go users will be rolled out by the end of this week. Next week, users will also gain access to unlimited text chats and the new 'Think' button for more complex queries.
