The State Chancellery has once again begun the search for a director of the institution. After the first competition yielded no results, the requirements for candidates were significantly revised. The most noticeable change concerns education. While a master's degree, preferably in law or management, was previously a mandatory condition, now a higher academic or professional education of the second level is sufficient. Holding a master's degree has become an advantage rather than a mandatory requirement. The requirements for managerial experience have also been reduced. As before, the candidate must have at least five years of managerial work in the last ten years; however, now experience managing a team of 20 employees is enough instead of the previous 50. The requirements for professional experience have also become less stringent. If in the first competition experience representing the interests of the state in European Union institutions and international organizations was mandatory, now it is listed only as desirable. Experience working with financial and investment projects has received the same status. At the same time, knowledge in the management of state and municipal capital companies has been added to the list of requirements. The amount of remuneration remains the same — 7255 euros per month before taxes. The first competition was announced at the end of May. Documents were submitted by six candidates; however, after review, the commission concluded that none of them met all the established requirements. As a result, the competition ended after the first stage. This situation prompted a revision of the selection criteria. Earlier, Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs stated that the initial requirements were excessively high and effectively narrowed the pool of potential candidates. Now applications are accepted until August 19. Candidates must send a motivational letter and resume to the State Chancellery. The need to appoint a new director arose after the departure of Raivis Kronbergs. In May, he was detained in connection with the so-called forestry case, after which he was first suspended from his position and then ceased to perform his duties by mutual agreement. Until the competition is completed, the duties of the director of the State Chancellery continue to be performed by the deputy director for legislative issues, Inese Gailite.
