On Thursday at 14:46, the Alarm Center received a report that two bear cubs were sitting on a birch tree in the yard of a house in the village of Vääbu (Paide municipality). At 15:02, one of them climbed down from the tree and started running around the yard, but by 15:15 both animals were back in the tree, said the spokesperson for the Lääne Rescue Center. Rescuers used water to encourage the cubs to come down. By 15:52, both cubs were on the ground. They went into a nearby thicket and climbed a tree again, but as soon as the rescuers left the yard, the cubs returned to the fence. At 16:12, the rescuers managed to drive the animals back into the forest. Throughout the incident, they actively consulted with specialists from the Environmental Department.
