The V&K Teed One Mile Challenge 2026 took place at the Kiltse airfield in Estonia, during which a new national speed record for passenger cars was established. The winner was Alexander Lyakh, who competed in a Nissan Skyline GT-R. By the end of the one-mile (1609 meters) distance, his car reached a speed of 416 km/h. Thus, the racer improved his own record set in 2020, when he managed to reach a speed of 402 km/h. According to the organizers, this is likely the highest speed ever recorded for a passenger car in Estonia. For comparison, the speed of 416 km/h exceeds the takeoff speed of many large passenger airplanes and is nearly 116 meters per second. Among ground transportation, only the fastest trains move quicker. In the competition, participants had to achieve maximum speed by the end of the one-mile distance. There were also half-mile races. A total of 12 participants managed to exceed the 300 km/h mark. Notably, racer Anti Kevvai in a BMW 1M reached this speed on the shorter half-mile distance. In the overall standings, second place went to Virgo Rikk in a Porsche 911 Turbo, who recorded a speed of 351 km/h. Third place was taken by Aron Voola in a Ferrari Testarossa, who accelerated to 343 km/h. The best result among women was demonstrated by Smilla Sangernebo. In a Chevrolet Corvette, she reached a speed of 305 km/h. In the diesel car category, the winner was Tarmo Pillerpau. His BMW 840xd recorded a maximum speed of 255 km/h. The new record has become a significant event for Estonian motorsport and confirmed that speed competitions in the country are reaching a level where results are compared not only with other cars but also with aviation and high-speed rail transport.
