According to Eurostat, as of June 30, there were about 4.41 million people in the European Union benefiting from the temporary protection mechanism introduced after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine. Compared to May, the number of holders of this status increased by 24,380 people, or 0.6%. The most notable increase in June was recorded in Italy, where more than 4,100 people received temporary protection. This was followed by the Czech Republic with an increase of more than 3,800 people and Germany, where the number of protection recipients increased by nearly 3,000. At the same time, the largest decrease in the number of holders of temporary protection occurred in Poland — by more than 6,300 people. A slight decrease was also noted in Belgium (35 people) and Ireland (15 people). The largest number of Ukrainians with temporary protection status continues to reside in Germany — over 1.28 million people, accounting for 29.2% of the total in the EU. Poland is in second place with more than 960,000 people (21.8%), and the Czech Republic is third, where more than 390,000 Ukrainians received temporary protection (8.9%). Statistics show that the number of Ukrainians benefiting from temporary protection in the European Union continues to gradually grow, although the distribution among countries is changing: some states are accepting new refugees, while in others their numbers are decreasing.
