The new milestone in the history of Latvian basketball was created thanks to the fantastic team spirit and good defence.

Earlier in the elimination tournament, the Latvian national team defeated Serbia (99:59) and Greece (92:80), but secured a place in the final with a victory over Spain (92:87). In the group stage, the Latvian youth team defeated Italy (82:70), Turkey (88:63) and the Czech Republic (95:80).
