Candidates for the Latvia U-20 national team lost 0:5 (0:0, 0:1, 0:4). The guest goalkeeper had to make only 21 saves to keep his net intact. In the third-place match, "Zemgale" defeated the France U-20 team 4:1 (1:0, 2:0, 1:1), while in the fifth-place match, the "burgundy" team of Latvia's U-20 candidates won 1:0 against the Latvian champions, "Mogo." For various reasons, strong hockey players such as Albert Schmitt, Oliver Murnieks, Robert Naudins, Robert Gasun, Daniel Sorkin, Roland Naglis, Edward Laganovskis, and Richard Lisovskis did not participate in this year's U-20 national team training camp and the LHF President's Cup. The third edition of the LHF President's Cup, held at the Inbox.lv Ice Arena in Piņķi and concluding on Sunday, featured two teams of Latvia's U-20 candidates — "burgundy" and "white," the Finnish club "TuTo" from Turku from the second-tier Mestis division, the Latvian champion "Mogo"/RSU, the runner-up "Zemgale"/LBTU, and the France U-20 team. Six teams were divided into two groups. First, the teams played matches within their groups, and on Sunday, the placement matches are taking place. Last year, the tournament was won by the "white" team of Latvia U-20, and in 2024, by the Finnish club "TuTo." The LHF President's Cup is an annual preseason tournament aimed primarily at providing the Latvia U-20 national team with quality preparation for the World Championship in the elite division, while also offering Latvian and foreign clubs the opportunity to play high-level matches. The main event of the season for the Latvia U-20 national team will be the U-20 World Championship in the elite division, which will take place in Canada at the end of December and the beginning of January.
