Tomorrow at 9:00 AM, members of the Saeima working in the budget and finance committee will gather for an extraordinary closed meeting. The agenda has one very hot topic - the approval of the stabilization plan for airBaltic. Initially, the meeting was scheduled for today, but after yesterday's coalition council, it was decided to move the meeting back one day - in the hope that the Prime Minister and his colleagues will manage to persuade the Saeima deputies from the Union of Greens and Farmers to support the stabilization plan, which includes not only a deferral of loan repayment but also granting the government a mandate for another loan - up to 30 million euros. If the budget committee approves this stabilization plan, the document will then go for approval at the plenary session of the Saeima, which will take place this Thursday, August 20. However, if the 'green farmers' refuse to vote for this plan, then Andris Kulbergs will have to seek support from the opposition. It is quite clear that the 'Latvia First' faction and the part of independent deputies supporting it will not vote for this plan. Thus, Kulbergs and Co. have no choice but to ask for help from the 'Progressives' - given that representatives of this party led the Ministry of Communications in the previous government and were responsible for airBaltic. Unofficial information suggests that some deputies from the National Alliance also do not want to vote for Kulbergs' plan. It is clear to everyone that even if the plan is supported, it will not solve all the problems of the national airline and will only allow time to be bought - to stretch until the elections. Let us remind you that the business plan of the airline itself mentions the need to attract another 225 million and an additional 100 million - in equity.
