The new owners of the historic Balvu railway station, Uldis and Zanda Arnicāni, have managed to repair the building’s roof to prevent water from getting inside. There is still a lot of work to be done. Upon entering the building, all you can hear is the echo of footsteps, but decades ago people used to buy tickets at the station, wait for trains and set off on their journeys, whilst freight trains arrived on the tracks.
