In conditions of heavy rain and gusty winds, trees and branches may break, which can damage power lines and cause interruptions in electricity supply. "Sadales tīkls" urges residents to charge their mobile phones and smart devices in advance, as well as to ensure safety near power lines and electrical installations. Several hundred electricians across Latvia are ready to work in enhanced mode, including at night, to promptly address damage to the power grid. "Sadales tīkls" warns that one should not approach overhead power lines if there are visible damages or flooded power stations, and to immediately report dangerous situations by calling the emergency number 112 or the "Sadales tīkls" hotline at 8404. Current information on registered damages is available on the digital outage map on the "Sadales tīkls" website. As reported, a storm and heavy rains are expected in Latvia on Saturday. The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued orange, yellow, and red level warnings for strong winds and torrential rain for all regions of Latvia. Due to adverse weather conditions, outdoor events planned across the country have been canceled.
