After the destructive storm, an anticyclone is approaching Latvia: the weather will change by mid-week

In the middle of the last full week of August, an anticyclone will approach the territory of Latvia, bringing dry and pleasant weather for a few days. However, by the end of the week, it will again be replaced by rainy clouds, according to the forecast from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC). On Monday, the influence of the departing cyclone will still be felt. Brief rains are expected in many places, and thunderstorms may develop in some areas of central and eastern parts of the country during the day. A weak to moderate west and northwest wind will blow. In the first half of the night along the coast of the Gulf of Riga in Vidzeme, the wind will still be gusty, with speeds reaching 15 meters per second, but it will gradually calm down. At night, the air temperature will drop to +11…+16 degrees, while during the day, thermometers will show a maximum of +15…+19 degrees. On Tuesday, there will still be occasional rain in the eastern and central regions of the country. However, starting Wednesday, when the anticyclone approaches Latvia, the amount of precipitation will decrease, and the remaining working days of the week will become drier. On the night of Tuesday and in the morning, dense fog may form in some eastern areas. On Tuesday, a weak to moderate wind from the west will blow, turning to the north in the first half of the day. On Wednesday, the wind will calm down and will predominantly be weak. The minimum air temperature at night will be +11…+16 degrees. On the night of Wednesday, it will be a couple of degrees cooler in some places. During the day, the air will warm up to +16…+20 degrees. In the second half of the week, the weather will be predominantly dry and calm. However, over the weekend, a new cyclone will approach Latvia, so the end of the week, according to the current forecast, will be rainy and cloudy. At the same time, meteorologists do not expect strong gusty winds, and the daytime air temperature will remain around +20 degrees. Thus, after the bad weather, Latvia will have a short respite: from mid-week it will become drier and calmer, and daytime temperatures will approach +20 degrees. However, the anticyclone will not stay long — by the weekend, a new cyclone with rain and cloudy weather is expected to arrive in the country.
