A number of municipalities have organized the collection of tree branches broken during the storm from residents, the LETA agency has found out. In Jelgava, private and legal entities can deliver broken storm branches for free to all three waste separation sites — at Salnas Street 20, Paula Lejina Street 6, and Ganibu Street 84. The company **Zemgales EKO** reported that approximately ten tons of branches have already been accepted to date. If branches from fruit trees are delivered to the waste separation sites, **Zemgales EKO** asks residents to separately collect apples, plums, and pears. The fruits can be placed in the container designated for garden waste, while the branches will be sent for recycling. Residents of Jūrmala can dispose of broken storm branches for free and around the clock at: Ventspils Highway 45, Jūrmala. The municipality emphasizes that the clearing of roads and driveways on private property from fallen trees and other obstacles is the responsibility of the owners themselves. If a tree has fallen on private property, it is the owner's duty to remove it and tidy up the area. Residents of Tukums County can dispose of tree branches that fell during the storm for free at the overload-sorting station of the company **Atkritumu apsaimniekošanas sabiedrība «Piejūra»** at: Dienvidu Street 1, Tukums, until **September 5**. As reported, Latvia was hit by a very strong storm on Saturday evening and into Sunday night, leaving more than a quarter of a million households without electricity. Thus, free collection of broken branches has already been organized in at least Jelgava, Jūrmala, and Tukums County. At the same time, owners of private properties should keep in mind that the removal of fallen trees on their plots and private driveways remains their responsibility.
