After the storm, two locations have been organized in the capital where residents can bring wood and plant waste: at Uzvaras Boulevard, 16A, and in Mezaparks — in the parking area near Siguldas Avenue, 12. However, the containers set up in Mezaparks near Siguldas Avenue, 12, **are not intended for large-sized wood**. Therefore, large logs, trunks, and other bulky wood waste must be delivered exclusively to Uzvaras Boulevard, 16A. A special site has been equipped for this purpose. The reception point at Uzvaras Boulevard operates on weekdays from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and on weekends from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The point in Mezaparks operates on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. As previously reported, Latvia was hit by the strongest summer storm in decades on Sunday night. In some areas, wind speeds exceeded 30 meters per second. The bad weather caused extensive damage to distribution and transmission power networks. Initially, around 277,000 customers across Latvia were left without electricity. Power outages in many places led to issues with mobile communication, the operation of gas stations, and some stores. The aftermath of the storm in Riga continues to be addressed. City authorities ask residents to keep in mind that large fallen trees and logs cannot be left in the Mezaparks containers — they are designated for the site at Uzvaras Boulevard, 16A.
