Running around all the retail stores in the country in search of the lowest price on some grocery set is cumbersome. And how can you visit them all, and how much money and time will you spend on this marathon? One solution is to focus on the offer from Maxima Latvija: Zila cena – zema cena ("Blue price – low price"). Within this platform, you can consistently minimize your grocery expenses. If you don’t know yet, over 8,000 products at Maxima Latvija have reduced prices in the long term. They are easily identifiable on store shelves by price tags in bright cornflower blue. We calculated: if a family with two children buys basic products from the Zila cena – zema cena assortment at reduced regular prices over the course of a year, the total savings can amount to around 630 euros. The calculation (see infographic) includes quite ordinary products of regular demand — 10 kg of potatoes, 5 kg of apples, 8 kg of chicken, bread, dairy products, ice cream, and other goods. 20 euros on milk? The difference is 30 cents, or about 25%. At first glance, it doesn’t seem like a large amount. But let’s imagine a family that buys a liter of milk every week. Over three months, that’s about 13 liters. At the old price: 15.47 euros, at the new price - 11.57 euros. Savings - 3.90 euros. If the family buys two liters a week, the savings over the same three months will amount to 7.80 euros. And for five liters a week, it’s almost 20 euros. This is the main point of the constant price reductions: savings occur not just once, but are repeated with every regular trip to the store. In our opinion, the most interesting part of the initiative is not even the figure "8,000 products," but the change in the very logic of purchasing. Previously, a thrifty shopper had to constantly monitor brochures: today there’s a promotion on butter, tomorrow - on meat, in a week — on coffee. Now, part of the products has a lower regular price. Therefore, a person can come to the store on an ordinary Tuesday and get a price that was previously considered special. It is valuable that the program includes products from various categories — dairy products, meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, bread, groceries, beverages, and baby food. Moreover, about 2,000 items in the program, according to the company, are from Latvian producers.
