Additionally, the court ordered a technical examination of the driver's license of the accused, allegedly issued in the United Arab Emirates. According to the court calendar, the accused in the case is Jatinder Singh. Recall that the Indian citizen is accused of provoking a serious accident involving a bus at the Apšupe intersection in February. The man fully admits his guilt in violating traffic rules and the resulting accident, but denies that he was driving the vehicle without a driver's license. He is also charged with using a forged document. According to the prosecution, the Indian citizen, born in 1990, was driving a Volvo FH truck with a trailer on an icy road in the Jaunberze municipality of Dobele district during dark hours. Both the truck and the trailer had Lithuanian registration plates. The investigation established that the driver ignored the warning about approaching the "No Stopping" sign, did not reduce speed, and did not stop at the intersection to ensure the safety of further movement. The truck continued to travel at a speed of about 50 kilometers per hour. Upon reaching the intersection, the truck collided with a scheduled bus heading to Liepaja. As a result of the accident, one passenger on the bus sustained moderate injuries, while another passenger and the bus driver suffered serious injuries. The bus driver had to have both shins amputated due to the injuries sustained. According to the prosecution's version, the man acquired a forged driver's license of the United Arab Emirates model from an unknown person under unspecified circumstances. After the accident, during a document check, he presented this license to a State Police officer as genuine, thereby knowingly using a forged document confirming his right to operate a vehicle. In terms of the charges regarding the circumstances of the accident itself, the man fully admits his guilt. However, he disagrees with the prosecution's assertion that he did not have the right to operate the vehicle.
