He was arrested in absentia only in 2024 - after he had left his position as advisor, began to criticize the Ukrainian authorities, and left Ukraine, where criminal cases had been opened against him on several charges. Arestovich still runs a YouTube channel with a large number of subscribers. While condemning Russia's actions, he also criticizes the Ukrainian authorities. For some time, he collaborated with Russian journalist Yulia Latynina, whose position is described by some Russian opposition and Ukrainian commentators as pro-Kremlin.
