After the Prosecutor's Office Demand - They Are Looking for a Way to Demolish the 'House of Moscow'

"The position of the State Territorial Planning and Construction Inspectorate (GITP) remains unchanged: the court's decision must be executed, and the illegally constructed building must be demolished. Until now, we have been looking for legal solutions that would allow us to do this effectively and, if possible, without involving state budget funds. Having assessed the changed legal circumstances and the remarks of the prosecutor's office, we will reconsider the chosen implementation model and make decisions on specific further steps to ensure that the building is demolished as soon as possible and as economically as possible," said Albertas Stanislovaitis, head of the GITP, in a statement. GITP representative Viktorija Šinkūnienė told BNS that on Monday, discussions are planned regarding the prosecutor's remarks with the Vilnius City Hall and the insolvency administrator Šatrijos biuras. In addition, the inspectorate does not intend to appeal the prosecutor's order in court. "The GITP has assessed the warning from the Vilnius District Prosecutor's Office regarding the execution of the court decision on the demolition of the 'House of Moscow' and will not take the opportunity to appeal it," Šinkūnienė stated to BNS. "Since the prosecutor's office expressed doubts regarding some provisions of the draft peace agreement, the GITP will further assess them and revise the draft," she added. According to Šinkūnienė, judicial decisions are also of significant importance for the peace agreement, according to which the 'House of Moscow' cannot be transferred to the Vilnius municipality. "In light of this court decision and the prosecutor's remarks on the draft peace agreement, the draft will be revised, and the GITP, together with other participants in the process, will decide on the further method of executing the court decision," explained the representative of the Construction Inspectorate. As reported by BNS, in January, the mayor of the capital appealed to law enforcement agencies regarding the fact that the unfinished 'House of Moscow' has not been demolished for more than four years. After that, the Vilnius District Prosecutor's Office issued an urgent order to the Construction Inspectorate to execute the court decision on the dismantling of the object.
