The exercises will take place in the Vecumnieki municipality of Bauska region, in the Ropaži municipality, and in Ķekava, as well as in the Mārupes region — in the vicinity of Riga Airport, Bēbērbeķi, and Baltsky Cross. Participants will practice actions in various terrain conditions. Special attention will be given to combat skills in field conditions and the execution of tactical tasks in wooded areas. Military personnel and Zemessardze members will train both individual actions and interaction within units, including movement across terrain and rapid response to unexpected threats. Tasks will be carried out in combat gear using light firearms. There may be brief movements of military vehicles and personnel on the roads. Additionally, residents may notice drones over the areas where the exercises are taking place. Their flights are coordinated and will be conducted in accordance with established requirements. The drones will help monitor the progress of the training. Zemessardze emphasizes that these activities do not pose a threat to residents. The large-scale national defense exercises Namejs 2026 will take place throughout Latvia from September 2 to October 8.
