A young man arrived in Warsaw from Delhi along with a 75-year-old Malaysian citizen. During border control, the woman stated that she was traveling with her grandson for tourism purposes. However, the border guards had doubts, and both passengers were sent for additional checks. The 20-year-old man presented a Malaysian passport. It turned out that the real owner of the document had previously reported it lost. Moreover, the passenger's appearance differed significantly from the photograph in the passport, and the height listed in the document did not match. ### He Even Tried to Change the Shape of His Ears The method the young man used to try to resemble the passport owner particularly caught the attention of the border guards. "The image and height specified in the document did not match, in particular. Furthermore, the man attempted to further adjust his appearance to that of the person depicted in the passport photograph. To do this, he taped his ear to his head with double-sided tape," said Major Dagmara Belec, a spokesperson for the Nadwislański Border Guard Department. Despite the discrepancies found, the passenger continued to insist that he was a Malaysian citizen and that the presented passport belonged to him. The truth was revealed during the inspection of his hand luggage. Eventually, the man admitted that his real passport was in one of the suitcases. The documents confirmed that the detained individual was actually a citizen of Sri Lanka. ### Warsaw Was Just a Stopover As the border guards established, the man and his 75-year-old companion flew from Delhi to Warsaw, after which they planned to continue to Düsseldorf. In addition to the issues with the documents, it turned out that the young man did not have the necessary funds for his stay in the country. As a result, both passengers were denied entry to Poland and sent back on the next flight to the country from which they arrived. The Sri Lankan citizen was charged with attempting to illegally cross the state border by deception, as well as using someone else's identity document. The man admitted his guilt but refused to provide explanations. Charges were also brought against his 75-year-old Malaysian companion. In the end, the carefully prepared disguise did not help: the border guards were drawn not only by the discrepancies in the documents but also by the attempt to literally change his own ears with regular double-sided tape.
