From August 28 to September 15, the entry of flying balloons into the airspace of Latvia has been approved, the Civil Aviation Agency reported. Balloons have been spotted over Ilūkste, as well as in the Pelēči parish of the Preiļi region. However, residents have no reason to worry. Closer to nine in the evening, one such balloon flew north of Aglona (see photo). The balloons belong to participants of the prestigious Gordon Bennett Cup gas balloon competition, which started in Germany. A Latvian crew is also participating in the competition. On Sunday, August 30, the entry of six balloons into the airspace of Latvia is expected, with the presumed landing area being around Rēzekne. The movement of the balloons can also be tracked in the Flightradar24 app.
