The implementation plan for the main directions of state language policy includes measures to expand the use and study of the Latvian language, conduct research, and develop digital language resources. **More Opportunities to Learn Latvian** One of the main directions will be to expand opportunities for learning the Latvian language. For adults, it is planned to improve the system for mastering the state language, as well as support the professional development of educators, including teachers of Latvian language and literature working in a heterogeneous language environment. It is expected to prepare at least 80 educators who teach Latvian as a foreign language to adults. State language courses will also be available to the unemployed, job seekers, and people at risk of unemployment. Under the programs of the State Employment Agency, training is planned for 1,215 people this year, and for 1,524 next year. It is also planned to improve the system for testing knowledge of the state language both in Latvia and abroad, including in the diaspora. Such tests are expected to be conducted annually for approximately 6,000 people. The Latvian Language Agency will continue to advise state and municipal institutions, businesses, and individuals on the use of the Latvian language, including on the writing and transmission of foreign names and surnames in Latvian. **Thousands of Tests Annually** The plan also includes monitoring the use of the state language and providing consultations. The State Language Center intends to conduct about 3,360 checks annually, provide approximately 1,350 remote consultations, and organize four public events dedicated to the requirements of legislation in the field of the state language. The maintenance and improvement of the geographical names database will continue. It is planned to prepare catalogs of water body names in three regions of Latvia and annually provide about 800 conclusions on proposals for official geographical names... A total of 3.87 million euros is allocated for the implementation of the entire plan this year, and 3.17 million euros next year. Funding will be provided from the state budget and European Union funds.
